Resin infusion, problem with patches of resin off of the surface left in mould.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 7, Visits: 71	Hi guys, New to the infusion world i have used all of easycomposites products threw out my project. from the pattern making, uni mould and epoxy infusion. This part is quite small 39cm x 9cm. ive made two using just epoxy infusion and one with GC50 and infusion. The GC50 released with no problem at all, but the two straight infusions left resin from the surface of the part, in the mould. once infused i put it in an oven at 55c for 12 hours. i also put the pot that had the left over resin in the oven as an indicator. the pot and surface of the vacuum was solid. once started to release the part i heard a slight crack which i recognized from the first attempt. on the second attempt i put 6 easy lease coatings on the mould as did not want it to happen again. any ideas? Group: Forum Members Posts: 363, Visits: 3K	with any chemical release agent you need multiple light coats rather than a single heavy one. Looking at the IN2 post cure, I read it as 25deg - 24hrs THEN 40deg - 6hrs THEN 50deg - 6hrs THEN 60deg - 12hrs not infuse then have an elevated temperature cure did you post cure the mould before using it?

Group: Forum Members Posts: 7, Visits: 71	Thanks CrisR, I put about 5 light layers of easy lease 15 minutes apart then the last was left for around 5 hours. I will leave it 24 hours to cure at 25C odd and then elevate the temperature. Maybe it did not like going straight in at that temperature. The mould has been in the oven several times now so I'm sure it should be fine. I'll try another one this weekend and I'll leave it for longer. And report back to see if it cures the problem ! :-) Thanks again Chris
