WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COLOUR EPOXY RESIN

Group: Forum Members Posts: 1, Visits: 2	Hello, I would like to know what is the best way to colour the epoxy resin that I will be using to make a table top? I have powder that I would stir into the mixture and the mix it in and then pour in my cavity. Just wanted to check if that really is the best way as I read adding liquid dye can sometimes disturb the curing process. Any comments would be appreciated. Cheers J

Group: Forum Members Posts: 688, Visits: 5.4K	As Hanaldo says you really need a dedicated epoxy pigment. With powder it can be difficult to get an even mix once added to the epoxy leaving a slightly streaky effect to the cured part. Also because of the extra mixing you have more chance of introducing air into the resin. With pigments the solids are pre mixed by the manufacturer with resin make mixing much easier. The % needed can vary depending on the manufacturer. With West & Senior it's 5-10% by weight. Warren Carbon Copies Ltd Edited 11 Years Ago by wozza
