Hi,

If you sand the surface of the GRP really well you should be able to achieve a really good bond with just the resin, so it wouldn't be essential to use the basecoat, however if the part is not already black the basecoat will help by ensuring that the tiny gaps between the weave don't show through.

HI,

I have made a part out of fibreglass and looking to 'skin' it in Carbon. Will I need the basecoat or will a layer of resin between the fg and the cf be adequate?

Thanks
