Hi I am looking to make some castings of my hand to use as coat hooks, i have never done any casting really i was wondering what sort of resin would be best to make them strong enough to take a fixing and some weight hanging on them. Also what sort of mould would i need to make?
Hope you can help me on this!

I"ve made some tutorials a few months ago that could be usefull for you Wink

Mouldmaking with Silicone

Casting the part with Fastcast Resin

An other project I did with Fascast Resin

As an EXTRA: You could cast you hands in chocolate for easter...or any other day...Whistling

Easycomposites sells all the materials I've used as well

If you want to take castings of your hands (or other bodyparts Wow) to make coathangers, do NOT do what two Danish Dental Nurse students did ..

They wanted to make casts of their hands using fast curing plaster ... This is the type Dentists us to make the hard casts from soft ones made from the teeth and gums of a patient.

Both girls had extremely badly burnt hands (1 nearly total amputationCrying) because the plaster sets hard from the outside and then is very violently exothermic if too thick.

They simply could not get the plaster off fast enough to avoid having their hands practically cooked to the bone!!!!

Just a bit of warning ... and a really scary story!!!

By coincidence I got this video on my Youtube-feed

This looks like a good way of how you could do it... just use a hard casting resin and not the soft rubber he used
