hi guys just had an terrible time trying to spray gc50 through my cupgun!
it would only spit droplets and very unevenly.. (havent used the cupgun before)

i ended up after several changes to the settings having to use a sponge brush which i know wont come out great but the gc50 was already mixed
can you please tell me

  • the recommended psi for gc50
  • the recommended g100 tip
  • and if possible how many turns from closed for the wheel at the back

Cheers
ps: might be a nice thing to list on the product page for other people

The Problem is the settings will vary slightly with every compressor as they all vary slightly.

Generally we use a 6mm nozzle and a pressure between 60-100psi, albeit too high pressure can cause problems of its own.

It does take a bit of practice to learn to spray evenly.

I had this problem.

Two things that I messed up the first couple of times I used it.:

1. You need to make sure the brass nozzle/cap is fully inserted into the opening. It takes a bit of a push. If you don't do this, the gel will drip out and under the atomizer.

2. Make sure there's no bits in the mixture. You can't filter it, but you pretty much have to use a new cup every time, otherwise bits will chip off the sides of the cup and block the nozzle. No the end of the world though. Place the gun down on a flat surface with the nozzle facing up, pop the cap out and unscrew the nozzle. If you cant see through it, its blocked, just bang it on a table and you'll probably see a bit of hardened resin fall out.

Also be careful when you re-screw the nozzle back in the cap. The thread on the nozzle is a bit soft, I've had to file it down a couple of times.
I use it at 80 psi, and adjust the fluid on the spot depending on how it sprays. Its not like an HVLP where half a turn makes a big difference. Its a bit more redneck than than, slap and go.

Thanks for all the help and advise Smile
I think the problem may have been using the 4.3mm nozzle (have a 6mm on order) and will have to double check everything is inserted properly
I'll try again next weekend after releasing and cleaning up my molds again .
Cheers
