I think it's a really cheap, quick way to make a mold. However i think that it will produce something which is very brittle and could crack easily so might not be great if you want to use it for more than one pull.

Dave.
I can't see the cheap part of the story. That price for a polyester, glass and filler mixture is rather expensive.

tried some material like fibral and it was really good , also u can make your ouwn by cutting cf into very small chop strands and mix it with resin it will look like gum and would be harder than fibral and cannot be broken easily

I agree with you 100%, I have not even bothered to watch the video because it just sounds like a bad idea!

But the Fibral is good stuff, could be worth a try...

Kevin,

I agree on the fact on using "fibre filler". I use that (vinylester resin and finely cut 150 g/sqm mat, all that forming some kind of paste) to fill tight corners when switching from 150 g/sqm mat to 450 g/sqm mat in laminations. Or even between gelcoat and 150 g/sqm mat when having really tight curves.

So you are right talking about a fibre media.

But the guy in the video clearly talks about "good old fashion bondo". Thats JUNKYARD TECHNOLOGY, and people who want to start playing with composites will just be screwed with that process if they dont do further research.

I'm upset with that video and I claim it loud and clear.

It could be done...

Do a google for U-Pol Fibral

This is a paste for bridging big gaps, kind of a body filler with a short chop strand already mixed in... Could be what your looking for.

Cheers,

Kev.

Bondo mold? Mmmmh... Why not agree that Britney Spears is a good singer then?

A good way to waste your time. People encouraging newcomers to do that are not responsible. Its like learning to read with closed eyes.
