I am currently planning on making a carbon fiber-kevlar bumper for my brothers truck. The bumper is 4mm thick and was wondering how many layers of carbon fiber and one last layer of fibergass for structure it would take to get that thickness for the carbon fiber one?

Are you vacuum consolidating? If so a general rule of thumb is 1 layer of 1200gsm material is 1mm under vacuum.
For e.g 600gsm - 0.5mm, 200gsm - 0.16mm
This of course depends on the strength of your vacuum.
