I have a question about the exhaust gasses/fumes when using the high capacity vacuum pump to degas resins.
I operate in an enclosed space and wonder was wondering are they ok to operate in a small space? Can i attach a hose to the pump to vent the fumes outside?

Thanks

Hi Matt,

The pumps being oil filled rotary vane do emit a fine oil mist when operated against a slight leak or briefly while reaching full vacuum, when running against a properly sealed bag or chamber no mist will be produced once full vacuum has been achieved.

The oil mist is not particularly dangerous in the concentrations likely to be produced during most operations in a well ventilated area, however it is often desirable especially in smaller working spaces to vent the mist, you are perfectly right in thinking of connecting a tube to the pump; the black exhaust cap on the top of the pump has a 'chimney' which is specifically designed so that the pump can be connected to a tube to exhaust the mist elsewhere.

Oil mist filters can also be used on the exhaust, however during prolonged operation these tend to saturate and become ineffective.

I hope this information helps, If you have any further questions please ask.

Please, I need to learn the design calculation for applying epoxy with FRP on beams and column, and as well as epoxy with Steel plates as steel jacketing or steel plating. How can we determine the quantity of epoxy needed for the both method and their cost effectiveness. we can use a column of length 3m, 0.3m by 0.5m for size as an example of column to strengthen.

Hi Anthony,

To keep the forum useful and logical for everyone to use please post a new question as a new topic. Although I'm not 100% sure what you're asking about I'm pretty sure it's not anything to do with our High Capacity Vacuum Pump.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have but please post as a new topic and be as detailed as you can.

Kind regards, Matt
