Hey Barton thanks for the reply, i think ill have to give the easy lease a try, i like how your part came out.  Right now im just making flat panels off of a piece of glass so, the mold is fine, its just the wax or pva that was messing the part up.

Quick question, is there any distributor in the usa that sells EC stuff. I remember wanting to use their stuff initially, but it seems like alot of times the shipping cost is the same as the item cost, and that seems a little steep to me.

Hi Dave

Forget wax and PVA and use Easy Lease from EC, make sure you mould finish is perfect so give it a good polish before you use the release system. The image below is as it came out of the mould and I did not use a gel coat or clear coat so its just epoxy and carbon , I used infusion to make the item. The finish of your part will always be a reflection of you mould finish, a good mould will save you a lot of work finishing off parts.

Hi, my name is Dave. Ive been learning how to vacuum infuse carbon fiber for several months now and i really enjoy it. I joined this forum because i need some advice from time to time from people that know what they are doing, rather than from random car forums with people who "think" they know.

The main issue ive been having, is that im not sure how to finish the part once it comes off the mold. It usually has light impressions from the wax or pva that need to be sanded off to remove them. Once i do that im not really sure what it is i need to do to get the glossy result im looking for.

Im looking to find out how to make a glossy finished part, with the least amount of steps and processes to do so. Ive tried coating the part in epoxy resin and i also tried just spraying on some clearcoat, but i am getting mixed results.

So i guess ill start to explore this site and hopefully i will find out a lot of cool stuff here.
