Hi,

Polyester and vinylester resins are usualy not as strong as epoxies.

Both epoxy tensile strength and stifness are greater than those for polyester and vinylester. That is even more true after a post cure.

Plus, vinylester and polyester shrink more than epoxies. That means that your part made of epoxy will be more stable overtime than polyester/vinylester.

I hope it helped.

epoxies generally do perform better than polyester resins in most structural applications.

Ideally you dont want any shrinkage.

I started out using polyester (some that I had for fibreglassing) for carbon bits, the results were'nt a disaster... when I ran out and went to epoxy I could'nt beleive the strength difference... not only were the parts stiffer but you could also flex them way further before they broke. Plus it doesn't stink like polyester so the rest of the house is happier! I'd say using carbon and polyester is like mixing a fine wine with coke!
