Hi I am thinking of replacing the aluminium shaft I am using in a project with carbon fibre however I need to fit bearings onto the shaft and I am just wondering what the precision of the manufacturing process. Bearings have a very low tolerance and I need to be sure they will fit before buying. If anyone has any general comments on fitting bearings to a carbon fibre tube that would be great.

Roll wrapped tubes are made on a mandrel meaning that the internal diameter is generally very precise and consistant across batches.  However there are variations in outside diameter due to the manufacturing process used.

So it depends where your bearing is going to fit.
