LOL yes you are correct Smile
still an interesting idea. i used a very slightly bent piece of wire in a dremel to bring back
plastic modeling paints before. to mix it doesnt have to have any mechanical method that can introduce air. it just needs to
circulate the resin and activator. then again, mistakes in CF are not cheap on the wallet !!

If I'm not mistaken the video you are refering to the guy used the mixer to mix tooling gel coat not the layup resin.

Never use mechanical of any sort to mix resins, creates to much air induction, always poor harderner first as it is lighter, and when mixing it will rise up aiding mixing. And do degass your resin

seems like more effort to get the mixer out of the closet, clickin the ON-button, and cleaning the mixers
than just mixing it with a wooden mixing stick :p

Haven't tried a mechanical mixer but using a kitchen mixer would probably add a lot of air.

Mixing for 5 minutes sounds a lot to me. With epoxy you can see the swirls inside it and target getting them.

so i am here bored and watching youtube vids on fiberglass mold making.
this guy's vid ..well he seemed like a loud mouth blowhard LOL but he used a
kitchen mixer (for cake mix etc) to mix his resins.
i might have to try this-- thinking mix with mixer, then scrape sides and bottom of mix
cup with wood mixing stick, mix some more then transfer to fresh paper cup with the
idea to as much as possible to avoid leaving any incomplete mixed resins in the cup.

do any of you use a mixer? or something in a cordless drill? handmixing for 5 minutes
get tedious so i am looking for a better faster way. does this add bubbles in the resins?
i think after  mixing i should put my resin mix in a vac chamber to de gas.

comments?

thanks everyone
