Hello, I have moulded a large tube for a telescope project, and trimmed the ends. This exposes the foam core (sandwich is 1mm cloth / 3mm foam / 1mm cloth). Prior to skinning, I was going to remove a couple of mm of the core and fill it with black epoxy for a bit of extra strength at the edge, but is it really necessary? After exposing the foam it seems fairly sturdy as it seems to have partially absorbed the resin. Anyone got any experience with exposed foam edges wrt skinning or otherwise? Here's a pic of the part:
