Hi Fred,
Well, they're both chemical release agents so in some ways they're similar. You'll find that EZ is a much less 'slippy' release agent which can be good in some situations but worse in others. Easy-Lease is a very slippy system which is why people rave about it so much on these forums; slippy means very easy releases (hence the name) but sometimes it's possible to be too slippy (pre-releasing or fish-eyeing would be the symtoms) though generally we think it's better to prioritise ease and reliability of release, which we do with this product. The 'EZ' in the chemtrends product is similar to ours in name by coincidence only, their product used to be called something different until fairly recently.
Best regards, MattHi Matt
Your right that sometimes things are too "slippy". I have learned a little trick with the Chemtrend stuff I use that is similar to your EZ release, so perhaps it will be useful information. Because it is so slippery my masking tape will not even stick and when clear or gelcoat is sprayed in the mold it beads too much. So what to do? I wanted the super shine to be retained so using PVA was out. I got my solution when watching your video on making a car hood.
You put a coat of wax over the release EZ (your product) and I think your comment was just in case protection.
So I waxed over top of the Chemtrend which retained the shine and took away enough slippyness that I could tape down my materials and spray clear into the mold better. I would probably be happier with your product but will have to wait until mine runs out. ( I am not suggesting people wax over your release EZ. I am just sharing information)
I like the sharing of information you have on this forum and look at it this way. Everybody knows something, but nobody knows everything.
Just a little plug for one of your products. I have tried the following to pinch off the feed lines. Visegrips, clamps, folding over and taping but it is always a pain. I saw your little clamps and thought I could get them locally (Canada or USA) but no go. I thought of fabricating them. (too much work) So I ordered them from you and had them shipped over the big pond. They are the slickest can't do with out things I have for my infusions. They are a must have item.
Fred
