Hi All, building and racing carbon recumbent bike (frames) is my hobby. My current self imposed challenge to conquer the last great frontier of laid back cycling - steep hills - with grades of 7 to 15 percent. Fortunately I live at the base of a few little mountains that are actually really rather BIG and very steep. I fact, the closest local ski resort is at the top of a climb that almost exactly mirrors Alpe d'huez, the toughest climb in the Tour de France. My carbon frame challenge is to build a
climbing frame that is as stiff a structure as possible and weighs less than 1200 grams. Why 1200...because at this weight I know I can build up the complete bike for less than the minimum UCI weight limit of 15 lb (6.8 kg).

My day job is software engineering but I did my undergrad in materials science engineering so I have been around carbon fibre for about 35 years.
I am looking forward to learning about member projects that have similar structural objects.
Cheers
