So I’m on my 4th eBay vacuum pump which has broken just like every other eBay vacuum pump within and extremely short period of time, the latest one within the first week of use.

I’m interested in what the Ec4 will pull down to in use I need approx 30hg for wood stabilisation (cactus juice)

I’m also hoping the Ec4 will be suitable for being left on for approx 4-6 hours at a time each day for around a week as this is the length of time it normally takes me to infuse the wood with the resin?

Thanks for the advice

If the EC4 is as good as its predecessor then it can be left on 24/7. With a good vacuum it is doing very little work.

Any info on what vacuum this will create? I’m looking for approx 30hg, given the cheap eBay vacuums can achieve this I can’t see this one failing to get that level but just want to double check before I push the button as it’s the best part of £300

EC claim 99.97% absolute vacuum which is good enough for anyone and 100% is impossible. Yes, it isn't cheap and you can get 5 ebay pumps for the same price but if you are having problems with these and need reliability then that always costs.

I've got an EC.4, it's a fantastic little unit. Mine is on virtually 24/7, probably for about 300 days a year. Had it for about 2 years now with not a single whinge, it just goes and goes and goes. I change the oil roughly every 500 hours, other than that it just gets hammered.

And yes, very high vacuum. My GDH-200 digital vac gauge indicates less than 1mbar on a fully sealed chamber.
