I'd like to introduce myself to the forum. I've been making model gliders from composites for about 6 years, initially as a hobby and now also as a secondry source of income.

I fly for and supply models to the UK team for the World Championships and also supply many pilots from other nations with models and spare parts.

Here are some pictures of our main project. The airframe is 100% composite made from spread-tow carbon fabrics, rohacell glass and kevlar and uses wet layup (The wing is hollow using carbon/rohacell/glass skins cured under vacuum. The fuselage is molded using a high pressure bladder to force out excess resin to provide an optimal resin/composite ratio. The tail surfaces are made from a solid CNC machined rohacell core inserted between the mold halves before they are closed.)

The weight of the airframe is approx 170grams before r/c equipment is installed, and is subjected to more than 70G on launch. The wingspan is 1.5metres

We have recently started to source many of our materials and consumables from Easy Composites

I'm happy to answer any questions about the manufacturing process or materials that we use.

Richard
