Good morning folks, I'm in the process of doing some hull rework and as part of this i'd like to put a layer of fiberglass around the rudder which I plan to remove from the boat. Boat is pictured here

Can you suggest a suitable glass that I could use  that will drape nicely around the contours in conjunction with epoxy.
Many thanks in advance,Micheal O'Shea

Hi Michael,

Our 2/2 twill weave woven glass cloths are definitely your best best for a nice drape-able glass cloth. You didn't mention the thickness you're wanting make this reinforcement up to but I would guess you'll be building up quite a few millimetres, in which case you'll want the heaviest of our glass cloths, the 280gsm 2/2 twill woven glass cloth which will give you about 0.3mm per ply (3 layers per millimetre). All of our woven glass cloths are binder free and fully compatible with epoxy resin. The 2/2 twill cloths offer the best drape and can conform round quote compound curvatures, plenty for what you're doing. If you ever needed to, you could also cut a 'dart' into the fabric to conform around more complex geometries.

I hope this helps.

Matt
