I am currently making a carbon fibre case for my AirPods and I noticed that the best way to laminate the bottom part of the case (Bigger Side) is to make two separate molds and then glue them together so there is no carbon fibre distortion.

Does anybody have any tips on how to put two carbon fibre parts together while making It look 'natural'?

Or if anyone has done a carbon fibre AirPods case before and could point out some tips I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks in advance!

Best way to do most 2-piece carbon joins is with a stepped lap joint. This is pretty easy to do with wax sheet, but it does add a couple of steps to your mould making process.

That said, I don't feel like that is necessary for something as simple as an AirPods case, unless you have a weird complex design rather than the usual design? In any case, a simple 2 piece mould that gets laid up separately before bolting the mould together and curing as one piece would be the best and easiest way for me.

Hi Hanaldo,

Thanks so much for the tips.

Though, I am making the part using vacuum infusion and not oven cured. How would I properly bond the two parts together?

Thanks in advance!
