Ideally your lay up needs to be identical on each side of the board to ensure a balanced finished product structurally. 

3 layers of fibre either side with a 100g UD cloth should provide a nice extra amount of stiffness.  The 100g is a lot easier to handle and wet out with resin compared to the 250g. 

It is worth allowing your first layer of resin to firm off to B stage with a tack before laying up the fabric.  You do not need to wait between layers, you can complete the lay up on one side in one hit. Take care to get the UD fully wetted out before moving to the next layer.

Hello guys,

I have this project i need some help with please.
I bought this longboard that is made for people of 65kg and im 85kg. It was intentionaly so after applying the carbon fiber im gonna have a lighter and cooler board.



Im thinking on applying 3 layers of unidirectional carbon fiber as i just need more strenght verticaly. Im not vaccuum bagging.

My plan is:
1 - Sand the bottom of the board to the raw wood so the carbon fiber sticks to it.
2 - Apply a first layer of EL2 Epoxy Laminating Resin 500g FAST (Can i do this or its necessary that i apply a XCR Black Epoxy Basecoat 500g?)
3 - After X time apply the first layer of carbon fiber (How long I should wait to apply the first layer and between the 2 and 3 layers?)
4 - Apply the final laer of epoxy.

What carbon fiber do you guys reccomend i use, the 250gsm or the 100gsm?
