Hi all.

I appreciate there are a number of woven options for natural fibres, but do we know of anything natural/sustainably and responsibly produced to add UD reinforcement to our layups?

Given the energy used to produce carbon and other fabrics, I wondered if we have alternatives available? Kenaf is something I’ve heard of ...?!?
Kind regards

As far as I know, glass fibres need so little energy for production, that it might even be less than the processes needed for natural fibres.

There are not many manufacturers making natural fibres at present.  We were for a while able to get a natural UD fibre but it was discontinued fairly quickly.

I suspect as the movement towards more environmentally friendly products continues to grow then so will the availability of resins and fibres with more environmentally friendly credentials.
