Guys I want to know how much is the cycle of a wooden mold and one made out of steel. What i want to know is what's better for a mass production part. Let's say 1000 pieces. I believe steel will be less expensive, because we can use it to make more parts. What's your thought?

depends on what process you are using?? Prepreg / Infusion / Wet lay and what cure cycles you are using as temperature governs a lot of what the tool will be made from.
And also its geometry dependent as the mould will wear with use.

lets say I am using prepreg process with a cure cycle on maximum 130 celcius. And we are talking for differently geometrys, where we make parts for a car(sidepod, nosecone, undertray, wings etc)

How many parts do you want to make?
Tooling board is usually about 3 to 10 parts as it degrades after every cure.
Aluminium tool will last a good few hundred to thousands of parts if you look after it.
Carbon prepreg tool is hundreds into a 1000 plus parts if you look at it.
Then tool steels like p20 that are very expensive will last thousands.

That helped me a lot thank you so much.

I am just preparing a presentation, where I have to say what molds should be used for mass production parts. Now all i want to find is how many parts considered as mass produstion!

Mass production may be 10+ of the steel moulds? $$

Well I hope not cause all my research will be a nothing....I hope mass production ti be cinsidered for 30+ composite parts
