in most of our non aerospace industry applications and home cottage industries that would be too much information for us who are trying to
discover new to us technology and techniques.
most of us can be thought of as new hires at a cf fabrication shop. but right now too much technical information will be overload for us. we wont be making the newest Airbus rudders in our home shops LOL
not that i personally dont welcome new ideas and new information......as i do welcome it Smile

Hi ,

This  sounds an exciting project. I am curious to know how yourself and Matthieu concluded to use your chosen material(carbon fibre+some gunge) in your designs and say why not some mud+straw.  Matthieu http://www.matthieulibeert.webs.com/ had also selelected methodology in processing the part.

I am sure you could quickly arrive at reasons to discard my envronmental friendly alternative .

I am sure many people in this forum are aware of the strength and stiffness properties of the fibres (A decision point) but the results after the"cake" is baked are less clear with frozen fibre/gunges (pre-pregs) considered good.

Dont the men have to separate themselves from the boys. Shouldnt the composites world not have well publised data indicating the mechanical properties at the end of their processes(hand lay, vacuum bag, autoclave etc.

Even Easy Composites do not publish their  mechanical propety data (stiffness, strength) of their standard carbon fibre plates which presumably has a consistent result.

Even afer you produce the ideal carbon fibre shell the thenext issue will be machining where difference of opinion are expressed from standard tools, sacrificial metthods to tools  shown in the likes of  www.coromant.sandvik.com

Attachment then follows (bonding, threaded hole inserts(torlon, rivserts etc.) May be we should have a section on the forum devoted to this.

Best of luck in your respective projects.

Time for me to retire to my composite home (kennel) and have a chew on my composite(bone)

Hi My name is Dennis I am a CAD opperator by trade. My main hobby is Drag racing and I am going to be replacing the interior of my race car with carbon Fiber and unless I change my mind I have decieded to do it by Resin Infusion. From the research I have done this seems like the best way to go.  I just found this board and it looks like I hace ALOT of reading to do. Hopefully I will be buying alot of supplies from Easy Composites.
