Hi guys, I have read as much as I can on the forum before posting this but still have loads of questions.
I want to make a carbon brake lever using the original as the pattern which I don't want to damage. I am aiming for a high quality, lightweight part that matches the original finish quality.
I will probably build a small curing oven so I want a final mould that will be suitable for this.
This is the process ive worked out from what ive read here and I wanted your thoughts and advice on this and which system would suit my needs - prepreg/infusion/vacuum bag/oven cure ect.

1) Make flanges around original part, fill holes and unwanted gaps with filleting wax and apply a release agent that can be cleaned off original part afterwards.
2) Make a splash mould using a gel coat, csm and epoxy resin. coat with easylease when ready.
3) Make a pattern from the splash mould using eg160, cf cloth and el160. vacuum bag and cure in oven. coat with easylease when ready.
4) Modify and shape final pattern as necessary, polish to required finsh and coat with easylease.
5) Make a mould from final pattern using eg160, cf cloth and el160. vacuum bag and cure in oven.

Photos are of original part, the shift lever behind is not needed and will be removed before starting.
