hi all great forum very interesting, i am rebuilding my 02 kawasaki zx12r i have purchased a couple of aftermarket pieces of c/f for my bike but pretty disappointed with quality, i think i could do better anyway hopefully with your help i can achieve good results specially interested in the skinning method, anybody on the island with any advice please get in touch and more tutorials pls regards richard

what is the issue with the parts you purchased? cosmetic? or overall shabby?

Hi,


I have made a tutorial this summer on this topic; maybe you can get some tips and tricks out of it...
I did this technique because the part didn't came well out of the mould... some pinholes and so on!
so the first step for skinning is not in the tutorial but is quit easy to do, just brush some epoxy on the part
wet out your carbon cloth on a paper of plastic and put it nicely on your part... let it cure and add layer by layer of epoxy
with some sanding in between... last step is using clear coat to protect it against UV light and so on
