Hi all I want to make a split mould for this air intake for my car out of Pre peg ' I bought the uni mould kit but have since found out its no good with the higher temps with the pre peg
Could I use the glass fiber mesh out of the uni mould kit with the high temp resin and the EG60 Epoxy Tooling Gelcoat .

or if not can you make a split mould using the tooling pre peg ?

No on both accounts unfortunately. The chopped strand mat that comes with the Unimould needs the styrene that is in the Unimould resins, it wont work with epoxy. And you can make a split mould with the tooling pre-preg, but not with the pattern you have. You need a solid pattern with rigid flanges, you cant have temporary barriers.

In all honesty, I would use the Unimould and hust use the low temp cure cycle. I've used the X-Preg system with vinylester tooling before and it works fine. Theres a few pinholes here and there, and if you need a service temperature higher than 80C then you need to do a post-cure out of the mould, but all of that is way less trouble than buying a whole new tooling system.

when you say 'if you need a service temperature higher than 80C then you need to do a post-cure out of the mould , is this once its cooked in the mould remove the part from the mould then put back in the oven by itsself on a higher temp  ?

That's it. So follow the low temp cure cycle. When that has finished, demould the part, and put it back in the oven. If you have the precision control, it is best to do a very slow ramp rate of 0.1°C per minute up to your final cure temperature, then hold that temperature for an hour.

What two parts? Surely this will be laid up as a single piece pipe?

Yes, but he isn't talking about the mould, he is talking about the final component. If he makes the mould using Unimould then his best bet when curing the pre-preg is to follow the low temp cure cycle followed by a free-standing post cure of the carbon fibre pipe to achieve maximum service temperature. 

easy release the plug and mould 7 to 8 times and its stuck like super glue ?
