Hi,
I am part of a team developing a new product which requires a 'plastic enclosure'. I have spoken to plastics manufacturers who refer to moulds costing upwards of £20k. We are getting ready to start a pilot, and don't want to spend that kind of money in order to produce - INITIALLY - 30 boxes.
In my spare time (HA!!)  I dabble in resin jewellery, so broadly understand the process of mixing two part epoxy resin and dropping it into a mould. We have a 3D printer.
Can anyone suggest a kit, or combination of tools, that we could buy to prepare the mould for a smallish enclosure (round, 8.2 cm diametre by 3.2 cm high), and the material for making the enclosures?
Thanks in advance.

I would probably look at Fast Cast Polyurethanes for something like that.  Make a mould out of silicone and simply mix and pour the fast cast and demould in 20 minutes, repeat and job done pretty quickly.  You can pigment the resin and there is no need to degas in most cases if you plan/design your mould properly.

Epoxy's often can take up to 24 hours to cure which would slow down your production considerably.

Thank you, that is great. We will definitely follow up. This will enable us to 'test' the design without the mistakes being outrageously expensive. I will explore your video library to ensure that we adopt the best practice to 'plan/design' the mould properly.
Thank you.

Thank you.

Order for the starter kit already placed. You've no idea how grateful I am for your suggestion.
