Hi guys
Long time lurker, first time poster.
After a lot of messing about on and off over past year with mold making and infusion and a lot of money spent on EC bits I am ready to make my first part, which is a car boot lid.
Do have a few questions about the process generally:
GC50 - found that it give the best results, however not sure if there is a window where I need to do an infusion. I normally let it dry for 3 hours and infuse while it is still tacky. Never tried infusing it when it is hard. Is there an operating window that allows the best adhesion to infusion epoxy (IN2) or can I leave it to dry overnight? I use epoxy spray gun to apply and I am generally quite good not having any high points, however when tried sanding them when I did have it did not have the best results, which is obvious due to GC50 not being dry yet.
Laying the carbon cloth, from bonnet making videos I have noticed that new formula for GC50 no longer becomes tacky when using acetone spray. Can I use spray tack between gc50 and carbon sheet to keep the item in place, or will it cause issues?
Thank you

I find that GC50 becomes hard enough to sand back and little nibs or excessively high points after about two hours. I've also left it overnight and had no adhesion issues. I've actually left it for a couple of days once (although not recommended) and the adhesion still appeared good on the finished part

I can't comment on other products, but I regularly use Cytec's Aerofix 3 and it leaves no visible traces when used with GC50. I try to use as little as is necessary, though, but it seems to work very well and is a godsend when laying up fabric on any contoured mould.
