hi all, made a few moulds for my motorcycle with poly resin, the moulds came out perfect so bit of wet an dry then polished with g3 to a mirror finish , waxed and left overnight then followed by another 10 x waxing. came to release the split moulds and they are stuck fast, theres no machine lock so in the end i smashed them apart and the parts are fused to the moulds which ruined the lot. ive made moulds in the past with no trouble so suspect its the g3 , if thats the case then can someone recommend an alternative to polish my moulds without them sticking ?

Hi,

If you are making epoxy parts in polyester molds, that can happen. Are your molds brand new (do they still smell styrenes)? If it's the case, it MIGHT be the reason why your parts (assuming they're epoxy) stuck to the mold. Styrenes + epoxy = nightmare.

If you're not sure about the polishing compound, you could try this.

Let us know.
