Hello guys,

I am quite new in the composites field and I hope my question is not too ridiculous.

I started a project and I'm wondering if it is possible to form epoxyed carbon fiber sleeve after it has been cured.
In my case there is a 2mm metal wire, that I want to wrap with a CF sleeve and have the option to permanently bend it out of shape, (to give it a gradual radius, not more than 5 degrees), preferably with a heat gun, but I am open to other options. The use of CF is mostly for visual effect and I know that there are vinyl wraps, but in this case I want it to be the real deal. I understand it is not meant for such use but I really like it. The part itself would not be exposed to temperatures higher than 40°C.

Any ideas on what kind of epoxy can be used? I heard about a "flex epoxy" but can't find too much info about it. Or maybe another kind of adhesive that would alow formation of the resin (or some kind of glue or silicone) and CF without it snapping in half.

Every suggestion will be greatly appreciated!!

Here is a picture of a test piece that I broke, it's just your standard 90 min epoxy from R&G.

you need to look at thermoplastic resin systems if you are looking to reshape the cured item.
