I've been working on this part most evenings this week, after 3 rebags and six hours of chasing the smallest of leaks ( In the end I envelope bagged it and the vac was perfect so think it may be porosity in the mould) I finaly got around to infusing.  The part is a little over a square metre and as it's the biggest part i've ever done and I wasn't sure about how fast the infusion would go plus it was quite warm I decided to mix the resin in small batches and top the pot up as i went along.  All was going well until part way through i took a phone call, before i did i topped up the resin pot even though it wasn't approaching empty, better safe than sorry I thought!  When I came back the pot had exothermed and the feed line was full of hard resin, the infusion was only 2/3rds the way through.  Figuring If I did nothing the part was scrap anyway I pierced the bag and shoved in a length of infusion spiral hot glued to a length of hose, air went rushing in as you would expect and bubbles appeared in the resin close to where i went in.  I let it run anyway and broke the part out of the mould this morning and was pleasantly surprised..

It's for my own project which is a track day/work in progress will be a race car one day! so I can live with the minor imperfections.

lucky escape indeed!

You might of not needed the extra resin.  Some people when infusing clamp off the resin feed 2/3rd to 3/4 way across so that the excess resin by the resin feed is used to finish off the infusion.

I was stood with crossed fingers but the resin flow slowed down to about 1mm/minute with 300mm remaining to infuse so breaking in was my only choice.

I've done the SRi roof spoiler and tailgate handle,  next job is the bonnet then that's it for standard parts.  I also made a complete new dash which I had flocked.

Hi

To get the V you just re-orientate half the cloth, ie flip it over so the back becomes the front and make sure one over laps the other so you don't get a gap.  I never bother trying to match the dark/light pattern and nobody has noticed yet!
