I've been working on this part most evenings this week, after 3 rebags and six hours of chasing the smallest of leaks ( In the end I envelope bagged it and the vac was perfect so think it may be porosity in the mould) I finaly got around to infusing. The part is a little over a square metre and as it's the biggest part i've ever done and I wasn't sure about how fast the infusion would go plus it was quite warm I decided to mix the resin in small batches and top the pot up as i went along. All was going well until part way through i took a phone call, before i did i topped up the resin pot even though it wasn't approaching empty, better safe than sorry I thought! When I came back the pot had exothermed and the feed line was full of hard resin, the infusion was only 2/3rds the way through. Figuring If I did nothing the part was scrap anyway I pierced the bag and shoved in a length of infusion spiral hot glued to a length of hose, air went rushing in as you would expect and bubbles appeared in the resin close to where i went in. I let it run anyway and broke the part out of the mould this morning and was pleasantly surprised..
It's for my own project which is a track day/work in progress will be a race car one day! so I can live with the minor imperfections.
