Hi all,

My name is René, I'm 37 years old and I live in the Netherlands. Found this forum by chance using Google to find a solution to a problem I'm having with resin infusion (more about that in a separate topic). I've been working with composite materials ever since I started a career in the design of wind turbine blades in 2006. Sadly, I lost my job there in 2013 during a reorganization. Since then I've been designing GRP storage vessels for the chemical industry, sometimes with a gel coat on the inside, other times with a thermoplastic liner like PVC, PP, PVDF, E-CTFE, PFA...).

I've used thermoset resins like polyurethane, epoxy, polyester and vinylester in a variety of production methods like infusion, prepreg and hand layup. I don't have much space at home to do hobby projects, but the idea is that at some point we'll build a wooden shed (4 x 3m or so) in the garden for my home experiments Wink

I'll try to help out others on this forum if I think I can add something to the discussion. Since my experience is mostly in industrial processes (large products*, looks are less important), I doubt I will be a real expert, but nevertheless, I'll try to help Smile

* Biggest product so far was a 75m wind turbine blade weighing
@27000 kg in 2013.

Hi Rene,

Welcome to the Forum!  Your diverse industrial background will, I'm sure, mean you have plenty  of knowledge to help others and with your own projects.  I am sure you will also be able to get advice on the finer details for getting a good cosmetic finish here too.
