Hey guys. I joined today because I've been looking into building with composites for a few years now. I've seen a few hours worth of videos on the process and the tools used, etc. I live in the Chicago area and have been looking for a mentor in this industry with no luck over the past 1-2 years. I was hoping to get to know someone that could physically teach me the process, but now I'm realizing that I'm better off teaching myself rather than waiting to find someone that can teach me.

At this point, I have zero experience with any type of composites but am very detail oriented and patient. I'm here to learn everything I possibly can about making composites, so I'll be reading through the forums for a while before I post any sort of valuable content for you all.

My goals:
Learn about carbon fiber
Learn about the necessary tools for carbon fiber parts
Make carbon fiber parts
Perfect the skill of making the parts
Use this new skill to make car parts and other fun stuff

OK, well, welcome to the Talk Composites forum. Whilst it's true that you won't always be able to find someone local to you who can teach you these processes in person, hopefully through the wonders of the internet you can connect with the wider composites enthusiast community and get the help and advice you need. For our part, we love the fact that through our tutorial videos, articles and forum we can be helping and inspiring people around the world to get into or develop their use of composites. I look forward to your contribution and seeing how you get on.
