Thanks Rich.
Basically I’m having big problems building up coats of resin.
After wetting out the fabric and letting it fully cure I am trimming the part to the original shape of the part I’m skinning in carbon, from here this is where my project fails.im keying and cleaning the part ready for the top coats of resin, weighing my resin and hardener using jewellery scales I’m measuring to 0.01/0.02 within the xcr mix ratio. I’m then applying resin in thin coats, allowing 2/2.5hrs between coats so the resin is at a tacky stage before applying another coat I’m normally getting 2/3 coats on depending on the time I can spend on the part. Once I’ve left this to cure (24+hrs) I’m attempting to either key for further coats or start to make my way through the grades of paper for a final finish. This is the very point I’m finding I have an issue, it seems the layers of resin I have applied aren’t sticking to each other and a heavy grade (240) will break through the resin creating holes and the coats of resin pealing, if I try and wet sand the resin is turning milky and that’s pretty much the end of the project without standing it all back but with that I have a big risk of sanding through the carbon on high areas.
Like I said this has put me at a real stopping point with my projects and i don’t feel confident at all starting new projects or re trying the projects I have recently failed and need some serious help and advice.
Thanks
