Depending where the damage is will determine how you do it. If access is ok you have more choice. If the original was typical laid up carbon cloth, then ideally that is what you should repair it with as you will get a better match strength wise. Alternatively resin mixed with carbon chopped strands as a paste would be a close second followed by milled carbon fibre in resin as a last resort.(milled carbon is better than graphite due to it being very short strands of fibre rather than a true powder).
In each case you need to build the repair up to the height of the original then, once cured, sand or machine it back to the correct shape and size for the metal insert to be bonded in place.
