I have got a thick piece of Oak (about 2.2" thick) that has dried out and I will be making a coffee table with it.
The piece has got a couple of large knot or branch holes that go through the thickness of the table and I would like to fill these holes with epoxy resin and small pebbles as well as cover the rest of the table with the resin to give a clear shiny look.  I have never worked with resin before.
Can you advise me how I would go about it.  Would I fill the holes in layers or would I do it in one go?  I'm assuming layers because of the pebbles in which case how deep should each layer be?  Do I do one layer, let it dry, lay the pebbles and do another layer and when that is dry finish off the rest of the table.
