Group: Administrators Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 8.5K	If your original gelcoat is thick enough then you should be able to sand the detail flat relatively easily without breaking through. Another question for you is you can see the bleed through from the leather texture and ideally i would like to smoothen it off, Would mixing some gelcoat and wax add and coating the surfacing and then allow to dry and sand flat afterwards. Would that be the most efficient way to go around it or using a high build gel coat?

Group: Administrators Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 8.5K	Solution MW Wax Gelcoat Additive can be added to any gelcoat you mix for repairs to ensure you have a hard tack free surface when the repair cures. You only need to add around 2% by weight for it to work. Polyesters and most vinylester based resin systems naturally cure tacky in air, so what the Solution MW does is floats to the surface sealing it from air so it can cure without the tacky surface you would normally expect. Group: Forum Members Posts: 20, Visits: 223	So i attempted my first 1 sided mould and here is the results. The part is a leather "Door Card" although it isn't actually on a door so basically side trim. 2 layers of 100g Chopped strand 2 layers of 450g Chopped strand As you can see there is some blemish marks and some of the gelcoat let the resin bleed through and make a patch but its still smooth so wont cause any issue. Got some bits to fill in and smooth as the leather texture is clearly visible as i had expected. In the tutorials it talks about a wax additive you add to gelcoat so it cures solid, What kind of wax additive is it ? Even though there is some noticeable defects im quite happy with it
