The technique for skinning on a worktop would be exactly the same as any other item, albeit keeping the weave pattern straight is more important as it can be seen.

My main concern is temperature resistance. Hot oils, pans etc will mark even a post cured epoxy so it could well be vulnerable to damage if you are not careful.

Yes i thought you'd say heat but there seems to be heat resistant resin that is used in engine parts and i cant see it being much more vulnerable as timber with water or even granite with oil. Both are terrible kitchen work surfce materials in my view, they just look nice.
