there are plenty of FDM materials used in F1 that you have to put PTFE tape or spray on teflon coating to make them release, then once the part is cured you post cure to a higher temp and the FDM print will dissolve or deform enough to remove.
Ive not tried the stratasys stuff yet but will try it out soon, ive got a contact for them in the UK if you want to get a quote www.3dprintbureau.co.uk

Another option which ive used to make the internals on wishbones in f1  is aquacore from Aero consultants http://www.aero-consultants.co.uk/category.php?category=335&name=Aqua+Water+Soluble+Mandrel+Materials
You lay up and cure the part then blast out the core with a pressure washer Smile

Hey All.

I have been trying some methods to simplify complex tubular andirregular parts using inner moulds that could be destroyed easily.

I have tried using polystyrene and other synthetic sponge materials..

but  I have had difficultymelting , burning and dissolving them completely ...Ermm

Anyone ever tried something similar on a less industrial level?
