Hello, i want to make a simple hood for my car. The hood is simular to a volvo 240 hood, large and without any curves/profiles to strengthen the hood. I have seen the tutoiral oon how to make a hood with a inner and outer part. Iam thinking of doing this without the inner part. first a 200gsm carbon mat then a 650gsm carbon mat. To strengthen te hood iam thinking i could lay down a 10cm 5mm/10mm 3dCore reinforcement at the edges of the hood. Then a new 650gsm matt or two 450gsm.

Is this a good idea or is it not worth a try? Making a inner hood skin mould seem to be a lot of extra work.

Is this for a road going car? If so, I'd recommend making the bonnet in the same way as the factory bonnet is made. The inner skins often have a lot to do with directing energy to crash structures in an impact situation.

You also need to think about how you will mount the hinges and bonnet latch and any other fasteners. Will you be able to align the bonnet properly without an inner skin?

Yes its suppose to be street legal. The car is 50years old so "directing energy to crash structures" not shure if this was subject at the time.

I was planning to use hood pins in all four corners and this would be good enough to allign the hood.
