Hi Hanaldo
Thanks a lot for your help, it makes sense.
I think I will go with the carbon scissors, for the moment will I only need to cut a little Kevlar.
Great tip about removing few fibers when cutting the hybrid fabric.
thanks

The difference is the cutting angle. Kevlar doesn't like to be cut, it wants to be sheared, so the angle of the blade needs to be very flat. Kevlar shears used only for Kevlar will last a very long time.
Carbon/Kevlar is just about the worst material to be cutting when it comes to the life span of your scissors. Reason being, if you get Kevlar shears then the carbon (which is very abrasive) will quickly ruin the angle of the blade and it won't cut either for very long. On the other hand, if you get scissors for carbon then Kevlar won't cut as nicely.
My recommendation would still be to get the carbon scissors, as the EC ones still cut lighter weight Kevlar (like you would find in regular carbon/Kevlar fabric) very well, and they will last much longer. If you are cutting carbon/Kevlar day in day out, then the best thing to do is to pull out a couple of weft fibres before you cut the material, and this will allow you to cut just the one type of fibre. Obviously this only works if you are cutting in straight lines.

Hi
I'm about to buy me a pair of scissors for cutting fabric.
I can see there are two different kinds available, one for Kevlar, and one for Carbon. Can you tell me where the difference is? Could I buy a Kevlar scissor, and use it for both materials? I', trying to keep this costly hobby a bit under control, the wishlist is still long..
Thanks
