If you seal the plaster first then it's possible, otherwise it's porous and won't work.

That's a good question ....... can I expand on that a little further please ?  Satisfied

Making plaster of Paris moulds is a procedure I've used frequently, I usually then 'seal' the plaster by painting on vinyl matt emulsion paint ........ never got round to applying resin to them though, as I thought the resin would react with the paint.

What would you recommend to 'seal' the plaster then ?  or is any water based paint ( or varnish ) OK to do this ?

Apologies if I've hijacked the thread a little  pinheirofox

Plaster of Paris can be tricky because it needs to be completely dry before you do any coatings. I'm going back to primary school here, but I know that if the plaster feels cold then it isn't dry. You can put it in the oven to speed things up, but be careful you don't cause it to crack.

Then we used to seal it using watered down PVA glue, 3 parts water to 1 part glue from memory. Once that dries then it can be painted, however I'm not sure if solvent based or 2k paints would be compatible.

Personally I would probably seal it with the glue mixture (I suspect this could be sprayed for a smoother finish), then move straight to using PVA release agent.

EC infusion epoxy works very well for sealing plaster .. It will not react with anything, and it will be partly absorbed into the plaster .. just brush on a liberal coat .. 2. coat can go on when the first cures to a tack..

Then you can sand and smooth some more, and use other stuff on top ..
