It does sound like you are applying it too thick or there is something else going on you haven't discovered yet.

We don't recommend brush application of GC50 for infusion as the force presses the carbon into the brush marks making a slight distortion on the weave. It's fine for wetlay as the fabric will float on top of the resin and remain undistorted.

A tip that works for some people to help fisheyeing is to apply a layer or two of Mould Release Wax on top of your chemical release agent. It helps reduce the slippyness of the surface slightly and often that is enough to get a nice application down.

Thanks Warren.

I´ve been using the wax since the first test and it does help. Regarding the tickness i did one test with much less gelcoat and the problem was still there. With the brush i had the problem of the distortion like you said, but still had the milky thing.
Can you give me some ideas on how to setup the gun for spraying? How much air pressure and how to adjust the knob in the gun? And also how to calculate the material usage? I did some calculations based on the chart that comes with the gun but that was a mess to convert milis, gallon and square feet to mm, liter/grams, m2

It depends on your compressor but you are wanting to be between 60-100PSI using the standard nozzle as supplied.

Hold the gun approximately 50cm from the surface and use a gentle sweeping action across the mould.

You will probably need to adjust the pressure to suit your compressor as they are all slightly different.  We would recommend a practice on a scrap panel of some kind to help you get the "feel" of the gun and get an even coverage.

In terms of usage you will use 3-400g per square meter for a typical coverage of 0.3-0.4mm, however you will need to mix approximately 500g for each square meter to cover wastage.

so quantity is not the problem as i´m mixing 150gr for a 1/2 square meter mould...
my compressor goes from 5 to 8 bar. i need to add a pressure regulator. but how much do you open the knob in the gun? that will afect the pressure

The "flow control" knob literally controls the flow by adjusting the pressure so there is unfortunately no "rule of thumb" we can advise as it depends on input pressure, viscosity of material being sprayed etc to find the ideal pressure.

We don't have any other videos showing the cup gun in use and to be honest, I'm not sure what benefit you would be able to get from a further video.
