Hi,

I have been turning his idea over and over in my mind for some time now. I all started when I fell off my bicycle and bent my new oakleys!

They were in my backpack and I landed on them. I also do lots of snowboarding and quite often carry both goggles and sunglasses so I can swap depending on conditions.

What I would ideally like to make is a small case not much bigger than the glasses themselves that would be strong enough for me to be able to stand on it without breaking. I have yet to see anything in a shop that is at that level of strength.

Some thoughts:

It doesn't need to be very pretty.

It doesn't need to have very good tolerances, just as long as the glasses don't rattle around to much, and any gaps can't be filled in with soft material.

The monocoque can be reinforced internally so shold be very strong.

It needs some sort of lid that can be closed and still be strong. It's effectively a custom shaped box.

So I thought either:

Something like a test tube shape sliding into another larger test tube, open end to open end.

Or

I buy a soft case and reinforce it with cf moulded to fit.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your time

John

you could get a small plastic oblong tub and use that as a mould?

use it to make 2 halves and use a piano type hinge either riveted or attached with some small srews?
