I have the following pump:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ECONOMY-3CFM-AIR-CONDITIONING-REFRIGERATION-VACUUM-PUMP-/310347158425?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item484221d399
It seems to pull to 0.9 bar not the full 1.0 bar
is this correct ?, if not is there anything i can do to seal the connections
thanks
Pete

Hello Pete,
you can use "Vacuum bagging cum tape" to seal, wrap it around the connector.

If i'm not wrong "-1 bar" is very difficult but should be a bit more than you have now if i'm correct...
Isn't your tube compressed a bit in the entrance of the pump? could maybe explain why you only have that much...
I mostly use reinforced tubes... I mostly buy a piece of reinforced water hose (transpararent with a fine woven white pattern, if you know what I mean?).

That looks similar to the guage that EC supply.
My pump sourced through EC pulls down to 30 inHG no problem and thats been measured on several gauges now as ive got through 3 catchpots in my time.
The guages can loose accuracy if whacked about but normally it means they over read not under read.
Id check against another guage and if its still the same then your pump is either damaged, or just not up to scratch.

Hi,
Regarding your pump specs, it should pull -29.9 in Hg.
My EC pump also get -30 in Hg (very small reading difference depending gauges), so I'm with Warren... Your gauge dont work properly or your pump is damaged.

Hi Warren
I went through the exact same problem. I bought a new oil bath pump expecting 29.9 hg and got a lousey 27HG. I was ticked!
I had the seller come to my shop to check with a very accurate guage and it said I had full vaccuum. Turns out that the guage you have looks just like mine and is a piece of crap.
I spent the big bucks and bought an expensive liquid filled gauge and it reads correctly. I think Airtech manufactures the guage and It was under $50.00 dollars ( $35.00?)
been there done that.
