Dravis you are right there are some resins that kind of work ok for it but all have some compromises. We won't sell something as a table top resin unless it "does what it says on the tin".  Too many of the resins out there simply are not in our opinion good enough to give the stunning finish many of our customers would want from such a product.

As a result we are trying to ensure we have the right product before we release it. We literally have dozens and dozens of test samples (borrowing all our copper change!!) using differing resins and differing techniques to see if we can get a good result. Although we are getting close to finding a good resin, so far none are quite there yet.  It's turned out to be a much more complicated subject than we originally thought!

Actually the EC Coating resin works quite well, but it is not ideal.

The best I've tried so far is Wessex Resins Perma Kote ... that is just brilliant stuff...   But rather expensive.... (Sorry to "advertise" for another supplier here )

We don’t haveanything that’s quite right in our range at the moment which is why we’ve beenworking on a product for this exact application, a clear, UV stable,self-levelling encapsulation and flood-coating resin for bar tops, penny floorsand similar. It’s actually a really complex subject and not just the ‘pour andcure’ using a standard resin system that you might hope.

 

We’re hopeful thatdevelopment of the new resin is nearing completion as we have been working onit for 18 months, but we don’t have any stock yet, nor packaging, a name or aproduct listing! We’ve trialled all of the market leaders including productsimported from the USA and all had issues that meant that the finish wasn’tperfect; we’ve had custom resins blended to our own requirements and the cycleis getting close.

 

In the meantimehowever there really isn’t anything that’s anywhere near as good that I couldsuggest you use.
