Group: Forum Members Posts: 2, Visits: 11	Hi All First post, I want to cast some ribbons for some pen blanks, I'm comfortable with the technique, float it over some glass slice it while its not quite set. This is what I did last time and some of the ribbons stuck to the glass. My question is- if I use a release spray on the glass first will I then get adhesion when I pour the second cast over the folded and curled resin ribbons or will there still be mold release present to stop the ribbons becoming incorporated fully. Group: Forum Members Posts: 592, Visits: 1.9K	It should work fine, if you spray or wipe some release onto the glass surface, before putting down the "ribbons" and make sure you do it sparingly, to avoid getting release agent between the "ribbons" and the resin you pour over the top. I'm working from the assumption that what you are making is a "sheet" of resin, with coloured "ribbons" running through... ? Pictures of the finished product would be very nice ... "Sapere Aude"... Group: Forum Members Posts: 2, Visits: 11	Hi Dravis Thanks for the reply, the idea is to make the "sheet" and then slice it to make the ribbons, I've included the 3rd of 3 YT vid's to show what I mean, it's the process at 3:34 showing the ribbons curled in the plastic container, I just wanted to know that the release spray won't stop the second pour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkMQzyW9fKM Regards Kevin

Group: Forum Members Posts: 592, Visits: 1.9K	Aha! I see! The process you are using in the youtube clip will give you some trouble if you use a release agent on the glass surface. Some of the release agent will stay on the "strips" or "ribbons" and give you problems with the bonding to the resin you pour in. Get a piece of polypropylene sheet (EC sells it) and do your ribbons on that rather than the glass. the resin will not stick to that at all. You probably will not even need a scraper to get it off.
