I have this one...

But once I had priced it up I would have been better getting the start kit from EC. Esp if you dont have all the rest of the kit

bit pricey for what i want. Only want to spend about £90.00.

Will the cheaper one be adequate for bagging smaller parts.?

Any comments appreciated as i am a bit of a composites Virgin!

Hello everybody,

I also bought one and it didn’t run in total for 10 hours I think ...and it starts making strange noise. Now I bought a second hand profi pump for a bit more than a new airco pump. It pulls a little more vacuum but is more reliable. (Losing vacuum during infusion is not what you want, I keep the aircopump for spare you never know..)

It depends on which "technique" you use to infuse. If you want to leave your pump running during curing your pump sure will heat up. Maybe if you keep the pump cool and avoid sucking fibers into the pump by a filter it will be ok, I have read that some people use them for a long time without problems.

They also smoke oil, even when you have max. vacuum.

It is just to share my experience.

Best Regards, GT3

If you have an air compressor ive got a vacuum converter that im finished with and you can have it for £30, perfect condition and its like venturi.  It will pull to 27 mercury.  Its great for vac bagging but its not ideal if you want to keep pulling for more than 20 mins.

Wont work, look at the pulling power bud lol 1/8 hp? the minimum you want to go with is 1/3 IMO. It may be a little overkill depending on how small your parts really are but at least you know it will do the job and your not going to run it into the ground after a month.

Again, 1/3 or more. Good luck!

unfortunately you get what you pay for with vacuum pumps.

cheap chinese crap may well be copied from a good design, but its hit and miss with quality control and materials so you dont know what youre getting.
