Hi

I am gearing up for hobby project building speed skate boots from carbon fibre epoxy shell.

I have a initial problem acquiring the right bagging material. Since i have plaster mold of foot , i need to find an elastic film tubing to stretch over the foot mold. The carbon only covers base of foot and ankle and i have seen a video on youtube that shows a product similiar to a large "stocking" get vacuum tight against mold and at the toes resin is squeezed in. See Below at 3.37sec into video

Does anyone know where i can find such a product??. By the way i have spend three days google this.

Cheers Rich , look forward to learning.

Not normal vac bag as such, seems very stretchy possibly a clear silicone as they aren't using any release

wouldn't suprise me if its something they have found via trial and error and its not really a composite product as such

Brought back a few memories ,I did a couple of pairs of boots about 20yrs ago for a speed skater. They were mainly Kevlar with a little carbon but that was all hand lay but I only did the bases leaving the Kevlar 5"long an un laminated and they then went off too a guy who did the leather uppers and would sew the uppers to the dry kevlar

fiberglast dot com, has a newer bagging material, flexi of sorts that allows for a expansion/contraction of the bagging over... I've no experience with it,, but am on the mailer and saw it in the 'new products' section..

-Cheers.

Just be careful using 'stretchy' vacuum bag like strechlon 200 for infusion. It's high elongation properties do make it useful for complex shapes, but it also become a very prone to developing tiny pinholes and you will spend your life looking for the leaks.
